Hello June!

I realised that my last post was when March was about to begin. So what happened in March, April and May?

As we are nearing the end of May, let me share what happened to me from the most recent event. My friend alerted me about a Facebook post that 3 cats were abandoned under the block, and the post was around 15 mins ago.

I didn’t know what came to my mind that time, but I changed, put masked on, grabbed my cap, key and phone. I prepped a foldable pet carrier, stuffed into my backpack, carried some treats (which one of them actually expired). And I forgot my wallet.

I found 2 cats, out of 3 from the post. I was chatting with my friend who alerted me, and some few others. How should we go about this. Long story short, we booked trapper, planned for sending them for neutering and so on. Tried to locate the third one, but just couldn’t find it.

But the one lesson I learned is not about the impulse of saving those 2. It was you never know how much effort you need to put into something, until you’re experiencing it yourself.

Next day, someone messaged me in Facebook that she brought a cat home. Because the cat was docile, and so trusting. She wants to adopt the cat. And asked, what should she do next. I reminded that everyone in her family needs to agree that the cat can stay. Which she did check with her husband, and get a yes. The next day, she pinged me again, she is going back to work soon, so she’s thinking probably to foster the cat and find adopter. I shared with her what she can do next. And guess what, the next time she messaged me, she said, she will release the cat back as community cat. Because she was commenting, there are many works behind the scene. Yes it is.

I feel that she is not ready. I told her it’s okay, maybe next time when she is more ready. And she agrees.

I’m not rescuer, I’m just a cat parents who was happened to be tangled into the situation. I won’t be able to save all, but I’ll do what I can. And I will help other rescuers or rehomers. It takes a village to do this kind of work, financially and emotionally.

I’m still hoping that I will be able to help as foster in future. Just that I need to apply permission from my 3 mewlords at home for this first.

That’s the highlight of the Mar-May. I do have other stories, but I’ll save it for next post.
