Asking “how to” instead “why” usually will trigger better thought process

“Hey K, why is this like that?” Or “why so and so treats me in that manner?” is one of the common example of many questions asked to me by colleagues and friends. “why” can give you the answer of the cause, when you ask it to the right person. But most of the times, we take the liberty assuming that the person we ask will have some share or some say to it hence we expected some explanation. But […]

To detach from our routine has its own good

There is old saying that practice makes perfect and build a routine to be better at something. But have you ever feel that you feel hopeless or trapped within the routine? What happened to recently is I trapped in routine of working. I was determined to get things done, and as a result, I was working morning full time and still have some night calls. And the amount of night calls are becoming more and more. I suddenly felt helpless […]

Learning through experiencing it or doing it

There are two important lessons I received since last week. My dad always tells us, if you don’t experience it, good way or bad way, you won’t learn or remember it. For example, my brother in his younger days, he didn’t listen that to come down from a motor bike, do it from the left side because there is exhaust on the right and it’s hot. Yet he still came down from the right and as a result he had […]

The flip side of it

My sensei told us in the class the other day that, try to look for the silver lining behind something. For example, when you’re falling from stairs because you’re missing few steps from the ground, you should say, luckily it’s not from the beginning of the floor. Only half way. Even if it’s from the beginning of the floor, luckily it’s from there, not from the top of the building. We were laughing with her example. When I grew up, […]

Beating your personal best

That’s it, yesterday event was my last sport goal for this year. To join a series of TriFactor event. Initially my motivation was to get the puzzle like medal, which you can connect with each other when you completed the all the event by them in a year. However, this year doesn’t seem to have it although this year is their 10th anniversary. Anyway.. again this will be focused on the swimming leg, my weakest among all three sports. I […]

Will you tell the other person directly for something which might hurt their feeling?

Reading the latest chapter of One Piece when Luffy landed in a new land, he made some comments about it and the other character was telling him, he’s too straightforward. But Luffy is being Luffy, he won’t think twice or considerate about other people’s feeling. He is just saying what comes to his mind. Last week, I received some feedbacks from one of my colleagues and at the end of the feedback session he asked me, if he made me […]

Will you go all out?

Sometimes we know that we like something, but we don’t dare to express that we like it. Sometimes we don’t want to do it in front of other people. We are cautious when people are looking at us. Sometimes we protect ourselves at all cost, because we don’t want to be faulted, seen inexperienced or not perfect. But it’s usually just our ego. And there are much more than our ego. This is what I learned this week from my friends. […]

Going slow to go fast

This week inspiration is from my boss at work. In an offsite meeting 2D1N, he mentioned that sometimes you won’t go anywhere if you keep moving fast. But, if you wait patiently, you might be able to go way faster. This is related to your “North Star”. If you know yours, then it’s fine. Otherwise, you might ended up going fast to the wrong direction. Do you have similar experience?
