Very recently I joined a workshop about brush lettering, which taught me about the basic technique and some applications to enhance the work or medium to work on.
We also learned about different pens and brushes.
Looking back (way back..) I started to have interest with fonts (to extend almost like obsessed) when I started to my web developer path.
But I wasn’t an art student. My brother was the one.
Then I told my brother about my old new interest that it’s hard to achieve what I want to get. Basically what I think is not what I get. I practice the drills from the class and other drills which I found from Pinterest but still .. not as I expected. (By the way, this whole things just started probably 2 weeks ago) so, I told myself, just keep doing it. Do the drills, make your hand used to it. Thin up, thick down.
My brother told me that it’s about coordination training between the brain and the hand.
Initially I like doing it because, at first, it’s brainless activity when doing the drills. *buzzer* it is not. I realize that I need to aware and focus on it.
A few days before the brush lettering workshop, in my swimming class, my coach said, in order to improve yourself, you need to be aware. Aware about what you do and aware about your mistakes. From there you can improve. It can be a little bit easier if you have friends to go the same journey as you, because you can help and remind each other.
But if not, focus on your goal, and aware about what you do.
