There are two important lessons I received since last week.
My dad always tells us, if you don’t experience it, good way or bad way, you won’t learn or remember it. For example, my brother in his younger days, he didn’t listen that to come down from a motor bike, do it from the left side because there is exhaust on the right and it’s hot. Yet he still came down from the right and as a result he had minor burn.
Similarly, last week I had very interesting situation with one of my friends during a trip and it wasn’t resolved nicely. I’ll share the story some time in the future.
Going through this “interesting” situations reminded me that don’t let ego come to your way. When ego decided to come along, usually we won’t be able to think correctly or clearly and make poor decision. This is my first lesson of the week.
And second is as usual from my funky and awesome sensei. My sensei recently told us during class that most of the times we just too focused on the end result. For example, how’s the chicken rice? It’s delicious.
This information perhaps won’t be that helpful to other people because, different preference. Maybe I like slightly oily chicken, but I like softer rice. And the answer earlier, won’t tell me much.
I’m guilty of this too, sometimes I just give the conclusion or the end state of something other people asked. But of course, we also still balance out the full story length of answer and giving more but still short enough.
Do you usually share what’s your experience or do you give short answer?
How’s your learning style? By doing or by listening?
