My friend asked why I can stay in IT line for long time. (Which I don’t think so.. Because I tried a lot of things and didn’t stay long on one specialization)
I’m easily bored so I tried different activities from time to time or joined different groups.
But there is always a pattern. A pattern that I keep come back to the same activities after trying or hopping to others. So I guess that’s what I actually want to do.
I read an article sometimes back that we all know what we want. But we just don’t want to acknowledge it. And here are my thoughts why we do it:
- The field on the other side always looks greener. We are tempted by what other said or simply by seeing others looks enjoying it.
- What we do become a routine. Or worse, chores.
- Money. Some will think that what we do don’t give us enough money. Or the opposite is, we are pressurized with the responsibility.
- Lone wolf. Sometimes people see us like strange fellow because what we do or like is not so common. Give it some time, either people will be able to accept it or you may find your interest group.
I think it’s good to try different things. Another friend is quite a jumper too, by trying different fields.
At the end of the day, depends on what are we trying to achieve in our life. What is our priority?
What do you think?
