Regardless how bad something happened to you recently, pay attention to it, learn from it, and move on.
This post is inspired by a friend’s story and how he learned from his recent experience. He’s participated in a photo competition recently, one of our friends praised him for the photo he submitted. He is quite proud of it too.
On the exhibition day, he came with his girlfriend to find out whether his photo made to the selection.
Come to his surprise, among 3000 photos, he can’t find his. He felt disappointed. His girlfriend tried to cheer him up, but he just felt down. Later, he curiously asked the other friend that praised his work. Our friend also surprised that his photo didn’t make it to the selection. He saw some photos that didn’t follow the competition rule can pass the selection. He’s simply wondering why he can’t make it, while others can make it?
This scenario is very likely to happened to our life, isn’t it?
We proud of what we are. Or maybe, too proud of ourselves until when the reality brings other facts, we can’t accept it. We felt that we are worthless.
Cheer up! It’s not the end of the world.
So what do we learn here?
We often think that we are the best on what we do. So, our perception is limited to ourselves, we didn’t think about other people or maybe even despise other people. And, believe it or not, usually that situation will likely happen to us.
I’m not saying that we can’t be confident with ourselves. We should know ourselves better than anyone else. But, don’t be conceited, keep your pride at the bay. That’s the most important.
Lastly, when I was a kid, my mom used to tell me.. “The higher you are, the more humble you should be”. When I was a kid, I didn’t quite get what does that mean. But as I grow up, I can understand it better.
When he told me about this situation, he told me that this too will pass. He learned a valuable lesson and he moved on. So, do you have similar situation recently?
