Lesson of the day: have positive attitude, the negative will take care of itself.
Firstly, what is your definition of having positive attitude?
I will start with one example, from one point in our life that everyone of us experienced this many times. We were worried that we might not be able to pass our final exam. We worried what are the questions that might be written on the exam paper. We worried that the material that we don’t really understand will be asked in the exam. We think about it over and over again while we were studying. As a result, we didn’t really remember what we are studying, all our worries are coming true.
We will get what we are thinking, it’s automatic and it’s under our subconscious.
That is the negative example. Another example is when we thought badly about other people. There are plenty of other negative examples, you name it!
Meanwhile, I don’t feel that positive thinking is equal to positive attitude. The reason is, to me, positive thinking is when you believe something blindly, without considering the real fact around it. Our judgement will tend to bias towards something or someone. We are becoming subjective and not objective anymore.
For example, we know that generally people are doing good things, but it doesn’t mean that we believe that everyone is equally good. When someone did bad things to us, we will disappointed and break down.
It also leads us to “expectation”. We don’t really see the real fact around it, but we are assuming that everything is going on exactly like what we thought.
Therefore, instead of that I’d prefer thinking positively. It means we make a plan, do the best we can, we belief it’s gonna work, if it doesn’t we think of the solution, it’s not about others fault but take it as a chance for us to learn about something, with or without help from others, give a chance for people around us to teach us something.
To sum up, it’s about the our attitude in seeing something happened to our life, whether it is good or bad, we take it as it is, no complaints or worries. It also means that everything will have its own time, whether it’s good or bad. They will be there for our personal growth.
Let me know what do you think?
(PS: Imagine that when we worry too much, it will come true. It’s because we focus on our worries. It doesn’t feel good when we are worried, right? So, why don’t we do the opposite. Think about something good will happen to us, it will give us good time thinking about it. Let’s say it doesn’t come true, no worries. That’s having positive attitude.)
