Trip to Japan is always a fun trip for me, unless you’re traveling with travel buddy from hell. So far, I’ve been traveling with 2 different (group of) friends, alone for business trip and with my brother. Most of them are quite okay.. (not all)
It reminds me that it’s good to go with people similar interest. Otherwise, the trip will be not enjoyable. Or rather, would be better to travel alone.
Is it scary to travel to Japan alone?
Initially I thought it is, although I am able to speak the language to certain extent, but I didn’t go often enough or research enough before my trip for many reasons. And my reading Kanji is limited too. So, I always have a thought that it is scary.
Especially, if there is alternative for cheaper transport etc.
But I think overall, people are quite friendly. Even though you can’t speak a word, I saw they will still communicate through body language. Well, unless it’s busy period.
As my trip is approaching to the end of it, I realize that I’m also quite a safe traveler and didn’t want to ask more or just do a little bit more. While my brother is the opposite. He will tell me just go and ask, cos he doesn’t speak at all. And so far, he’s right. Usually something I want is just one ask away.
It reminds me what my sensei used to tell us in the class, just use your Japanese as often as possible in many different situation. That’s how you learn.
And about the additional cost etc, that’s the “school fee” on learning.
No one has exact same interest so, it’s also important to appreciate or acknowledge the other party interest. Or perhaps, put free days when we do our own things.
