How much time do you have for …

Have you asked yourself this question before? For example, how much time you have for reading? Or for exercising? And so on.

In Twitter, one of my favorite writer always put a remark x mins reading in his tweet, followed by the blog link. This is not new. Just that it resonates with me recently.

At work, I discovered how to use Tempo with JIRA, which is a tool to track your time working on something.

And these two things made me realized that sometimes within a day, you might end up doing something outside of your plan.

Which makes me wonder too, weighing to be precise and less human or being more human and less precise.

Interruptions always around us. Whether it’s your team mates who simply think you’re their Google to their problems, or other people.

If you’re anxious, means you’re living in the future.

If you’re guilty, means you’re living in the past.

If you’re content, means you’re living in the present.

(I saw this somewhere but I couldn’t recall who said it and where)

For me, I’m swaying between past and future and doesn’t really feel living in present. Because as I tried to keep everything in present, there are people or something coming to me, which bring me to future or past.

Perhaps I have too much self-conscious about this and perhaps I should ignore more those noises. For example if someone asked you to do something, assess it. When you have doubts on it, stop. We still can make our own decision about it.

There is no perfect fit situation for us, it might be 70% fit, or higher, or lower. If you don’t have the confident of doing it, don’t force yourself. Unless you see the benefit for you out of it. Don’t need to feel bad also about it. Sometimes peer pressure is just inside our head.

So, I think it’s important to know what are we busy with. What are our important blocks. Then plan the rest around it. It’s okay too to put playing game as slightly more important thing to do if you feel so.

If you feel out of place, perhaps you’re just not with the right group.

To me, I still like my life to be balanced. Although sometimes I tend to do some activities a lot in the beginning and gradually lose interest. It’s normal to feel excited about it during the start of the journey.

So, I should hear less or pay less attention to the noises around me. Take it as inputs, and just take note, perhaps you need it in the future. Then you will have time to do other things which you like.
