Passing half way mark to 21km this morning, I was playing a game with myself, “would you rather…”. Because I feel that I have not enough prep or whatsoever so I literally dragging my feet one step at a time.
So, since I have lots of time, at one point, I played it with myself. Basically it’s comparing A and B, if I chose A then I need to pick a new B, and vice versa.
One of them was comparing this half marathon run with swimming open water. I said, of course I’d rather run than swim. I find it’s not easy to overcome the memory of almost drowned in swimming pool when I was a kid. I learned diving, I can swim, and know how to survive in certain situation however when the thought of that resurface, I just shudder.
But again, I also want to do a triathlon, at least sprint distance, again. So I need to learn how to overcome this and of course need to go back to training program.
Anyway.. that mini game with myself helped me to complete few more kilos from the total distance.
Another booster was meeting my friends, of course.
In long meeting, my ex colleague used to teach me to play bingo with ourselves. Have a list of key words which related to the meeting topic and crossed them out every time you hear the speaker mentioned it.
So, do you have any tricks or games which you play with yourself during events which requires endurance?
PS: at the end of the event, one of the staff asked us, do you have anything to recycle, because this is a zero waste run event. My friend said, yes me (referring to self). 😑🙄
