Defining a perfect day in our life

How do you define a perfect day in our life?

Let’s close our eyes, think about it for a second, and start to imagine it. (Okay you have 10 seconds before you continue.. Just kidding :))

A classical scenario for a girl could be,

  • Wake up in the morning, make the bed, having breakfast with her love (or sometimes she just have breakfast outside; a small cafe nearby is nice).
  • Make their own way, to work, or simply stays at home.
  • Reach home earlier, or do some house chores and maybe make some dinner, or simply just relax or reading a book.

Okay my version is, I’d like to add these two in the middle..

  • Sometimes I work from home, sometimes I work at a cafe, sometimes I work at the office. Basically anywhere is my office.
  • I make some phone calls, I do some designs, and I meet clients.
  • I meet friends, watch movies, catch up, and other social activities.

Let’s take a pause again.. And ask ourselves the next question, how many of us experienced exactly the same thing we want our life and it just happened to us?

Every one of us has their own pace on doing something. Doing it repetitively we can call it consistency. And far from the ideal scenario, we always have something happened in between our normal daily life in a way that disrupt the pace.

Getting our feet back on the ground

Lesson of the week: it’s hard to make a new habit, but it’s harder to get it back.

This post is still related to my recent trip which I mentioned in previous post. The trip summary, we had a trip because of public holiday fell on Monday, so it was a long weekend trip. On top of that, we add one more day by taking one day leave on Friday, thus we have 4 days 3 nights for the trip.

Getting our feet back on the ground

Basically I was away from my daily routine for one day because of the trip. Daily routine here means my working day routine. Since it was ended on Monday, all of us were supposedly going to work the next day. And come to my surprise, I feel more tired than before I had the trip. I can’t concentrate much at work, I took longer time to solve problems and days feel longer than usual. (oops..)

Some of my colleagues teased me by saying, maybe the holiday wasn’t long enough for me and having a brain freeze after holiday is normal after all.

On setting a limit

I like one of the sport shoe commercial tag line, “Nothing is impossible. Impossible is nothing”. The tag line has been few years back though, I’m sure you know or ever heard about it.

First of all, the story I wrote is for sharing purpose which inspired by my own situations.

I’m motivated by the tag line many times but for this time, I need to see the bigger picture of it.

Let’s say that you work on a specific project, your own. For me, I work as web developer in my current office. Sometimes on the other department in your office has lots of projects which due almost in the same time, it was overwhelmed and had a very tight deadline. So, for staff who responsible internally-not dealing with clients-will be assigned to help the project so that deadline can be met. Regardless your initial job scope.

However, though you are assigned “urgent” projects with tight deadline, you will still have your own project deadline. Ha! Interesting huh? Or maybe been this kind of situation before?

Embracing new journey..

Yep!

I’ve been doing this for how many times. Add this, remove that, edit this code, remark that code, change the link here and there. I always like to do same things in a different way.

Used to do it in my local hard drive until I really satisfied with the new look, then upload it to the Internet. But I guess, the condition is a bit different now. Singapore has a faster Internet connection compared to my own country Indonesia. Thus, doing a small renovation live is quite enjoyable somehow.

on recent depression

Blame it to lack of sleep,

I felt have no energy left to face the day. I don’t have motivation at all since the morning I wake up. Why and why is the question I like to ask myself. On my effort to find out the answer, I even feel more depressed.

Blame it to others behavior,

I was easily fumed or irritated by what my so-called friends do. Here are some of the examples which made me hate or angry to the other party. First, by making me feel that I’m the biggest idiot who patiently draw and color while the person’s effort is “only” googling and combining the game engine then leads to the second thing which is ruining my beautifully-written-and-structured-library-according-to-my-standard when that person combined those. Third, making me played guess-what-i-am-trying-to-say by pointing here and there and mumbling in the morning, sorry my brain took it as compiled error. …

Do nothing, nothing to do?

If someone asked me what were my activities for the whole day, then I may be confused about the answer. Why?

Starts with my morning routine, woke up, washed my face and my mouth, drank some water, turned on TV, watched “Early Edition” back-to-back with “The Guardian”, had my breakfast. My mom asked me to be alert if there is someone deliver the food, which means I need to pick it and pay it. I was thinking to go swimming too after finishing my series. I bought 10 swimming vouchers quite while ago and I still have 5 vouchers whereas I will leave to Singapore this Friday. I waited the delivery until my series ended, yet the delivery has not come. Since my mom was on her morning meditation, I can’t just leave like that. I decided to wait until the delivery came. That time was already close to 8.30 in the morning. Then somehow, I just told myself not to force to swim since I would be playing badminton in the afternoon with my ex-colleagues anyway. Otherwise I might be exhausted :p
