To find that we have so much

Count what you have now

Find that you have so much

around 40

Those words are from opening song of Japanese drama titled “Around 40“. The title of the song is Shiawase no Monosashi (幸せのものさし) by Takeuchi Mariya (竹内 まりや). What I like about this song is, the melody is quite bright and the words are very encouraging.

About the drama, it’s light and entertaining. It’s about some women in their 40s with their different lifestyle (and problems). The main actress for this drama is Amami Yuki (天海祐希). (I hardly have favourite actress, but she’s in my favourite list). Even though the drama is light, but it delivers a good message in each episode. I’ll probably will share some after I finished watching the drama.

Or have you seen it? What do you think?

Side note: I’m watching this during my commute to work at this moment.  Here is the song in YouTube:

DOCTORS Saikyou no Meii: side note

Side note:

  1. I suddenly remembered a quote from XXXholic manga by Clamp: “There is no such thing as a coincidence in this world. There is only the inevitable.” I’m wondering why would I watch this show after completing two dramas related to doctor and hospital, yet I’m drawn into another one (しょうがないかなぁぁ。。). Or, was I randomly watching, whatever show is available in Viki?
  2. Though, the main actor, 沢村一揆 (Sawamura Ikki), was also in 続。星の金貨 (this drama is his debut!) and 7月24日通りのクリスマス (Christmas on July 24th Avenue). Since I’m still trying to watch 大沢たかお (Osawa Takao) past movie/drama.
  3. So, the second leads to the first one?
  4. I watched Sawamura Ikki few times before in different shows but didn’t really following his dramas after that. I feel his brilliant in portraying someone in twisted personality in 続。星の金貨 and DOCTORS: 最高の名医. He has a good person looking yet can be somewhat scary when he’s plotting something.

To run away or not to run

Continuing last post, the second statement that I like from the drama is,

“Rather than change the place, isn’t it easier to join another hospital?” – Minagawa Kazue

(an eye opener statement)

Does it sound familiar to you?

When we are working for a company or another person, those conflicts are inevitable. We may have some principle or preferred method which differs to management or higher up. And after some times, when we are tired we decided to run from the “battle” with whatever reasons. (or at least, I did)

Although I asked myself, if I were back in the same situation right now, will I still run away from it? Maybe. But, do I want to be back in the first place?

So, even though I haven’t completed watching this show (the second season is still airing in Japan actually), I’d recommend you to watch it. The main reason is it will make you inspire you and make you think in a way, if you have your priorities right or whether you’re doing the right thing or doing thing right.

Are we making excuses for ourselves?

I have 2 favorite quotes after watching a Japanese drama. The title is “DOCTORS: 最高の名医“. First is,

“Statistic is just an excuse for doctor to hide from the patient. And saying “it’s usually like that ..” too ” – Sagara Kosuke

Sagara Kosuke is the main character in the drama with some “unique” characters.

I think sometimes we are trying to justify our failure by finding supporting facts which align with our facts. Do you think so?

Hmm.. I think I did in the past. Then usually I’ll have some regrets for not persistently pursuing it.

I learned that it’s not just our effort taken into account there are other things too. However, what’s our attitude towards it is also important. Because I believe, that there are not only one way to get something or to get to somewhere. I learned that I need to be “creative” and keep my mind open when I’m working on something. Don’t give up easily when one way is not working.

So at the end of the day, we won’t say that it’s because of this or that I failed not to get it. Instead will say that I did my best. No excuse, no regret.

(to be continued)

Latest obsession

In my last post I mentioned that I had a drama marathon recently. Actually I’m still having it till now. To be more precise I’m watching it because of one actor (who is it?).

It was all started because of 1 song, 逢いたくて今 (Aitakute Ima) by 대성 (Daesung) from 빅뱅(BIGBANG) member (MV). Yes, he’s a member of a Korea boyband but he’s having a Japan solo activities at this moment. And, it wasn’t his original song, but it was a cover, from MISIA (the original singer). It is a very touching song.

When I tried to find the MISIA’s MV in YouTube, I found out that this song was a OST of a drama, JIN-仁- and this drama (and it’s sequel) won lots of awards during that time. I did my search before having my holiday. I was thinking was it that really good? Anyway, I’ll take my time to find it out.

JIN-仁- main leads are 大沢たかお (Osawa Takao) and 綾瀬はるか (Ayase Haruka). I have heard Ayase Haruka before, but I didn’t realize that actually I had watched Osawa Takao in different drama/movie, like Goemon or Galileo 2 eps 1 (I started to feel that his face is somewhat familiar when I watch Galileo 2).

(A little surprise..!) On my flight back to my hometown I found Osawa Takao recent movie in flight entertainment. 藁の縦 (Straw of Shield) and ストロベリー.ナイト (Strawberry Night). Aha! (運命か?笑!)

Actually, I hardly watch Japanese drama lately because I don’t find actor that I like act that often anymore and there were too many young ones that I don’t know anymore. (Ha!)

Then, I watched JIN-仁- both seasons during my holiday. Despite I have another DVD 龍馬伝 (Ryouma den) about Sakamoto Ryouma, that I plan to watch as my holiday drama. Interestingly, Ryouma-san also appears as one of the character in JIN-仁-.

This drama is really good, indeed. And after watching it, I feel more emotion when I listen to the song. I’d highly recommend you to watch JIN-仁- if you haven’t watched it. The drama taught me few important history events for example how Satsuma and Chousu alliance happened. (I’m pretty sure I’ll find it more when I watched Ryouma den again)

Another point that I like about the drama is the interaction between the main male lead and the female lead. I was thinking why was it so hard for them to be together, and to some extents I was telling myself “just say it” or “just hug her”. (Which obviously not happened :p) Well I guess maybe because the setting is in Japan old days. So they don’t really display the affection in public. Nevertheless, they still manage to convey the emotion (very intense).

As a result of JIN-仁- marathon and his cute smiling face, Takao Osawa gets my attention. Right now I’m watching his old drama 續。星の金貨 (Heaven’s Coin 2) with 竹野内ゆたか (Takenouchi Yutaka) and 酒井のりこ (Sakai Noriko). (I just finished 星の金貨 (Heaven’s Coin)) These dramas are another heart breaking drama.

I have ICHI (he’s acting with Ayase Haruka again) awaiting for me after this and 世界の中心で、愛をさけぶ (Crying Out Love, in the Center of the World). (大沢ーさん、どうして?あなたのチャラは誰かが幸せになるの事は難しそうですか?悲し過ぎるよ。。T_T)

Now you know the answer to the mystery actor I mentioned earlier?  So, I think for the time being I’ll hunt his movies :p

Although I’m aware it’s just a drama/movie, but I can’t help that my emotion is being stirred or pulled into the story. Oh well, maybe for once in a while it’s good for me to balance out my logic brain.

PS: What happened to the Ryouma den DVD? I need to find out different ways to watch it, my laptop is unable to display the subtitle in correct position and I don’t have DVD player like in my hometown.

PPS: And Takao-san, I hope to see you more in happy ending movie/drama. :p
