Uniquely (my first two nights in) Singapore #1

Friday, January 30

(continuing my previous post…)
I flew to Singapore using Citilink, subsidiaries of Garuda Indonesia, 1050 AM flight. My friends and I decided to use it since it’s a budget plane. Despite the bad rumors about the lateness of the airlines, it departed and arrived per schedule, 1300 PM. After collecting our luggage which took around 30 mins due to not many lines were opened, we bought the ferry ticket Batam Singapore, SGD16 each of us. Taking taxi to Batam Center port cost us IDR80,000 for both of us.
This is the interesting part..
We didn’t know how to get our paperwork done.. Firstly, we thought that we need to pay for fiscal first, we went to the cashier and told the officer that we would like to pay our fiscal. The officer asked us whether we had checked in, since we hadn’t, we were told to checked in. After following the officer’s instruction, we paid the fiscal, first mission (on ground floor) completed.

Leaving on a jet plane :D

Borrowing the term from a song title, yes, today is my last day in Surabaya because tomorrow, I’ll be flying to Singapore 🙂

This is not my first time fying overseas without my family, but somehow, whenever I remember that I’m leaving them soon, well, I was trully touched and merely just wanted to cry :p

This time, I didn’t have big feast, I just have small farewell lunch with some of my ex colleagues, thanks to my bro (in accidental mode, if you get what I mean). But, it’s quite fun actually, so still thanks to my bro. Before I left to Melbourne, I had a farewell with senior colleagues including my boss. Now, I had it with fellow lecturers. It’s really different.

Do nothing, nothing to do?

If someone asked me what were my activities for the whole day, then I may be confused about the answer. Why?

Starts with my morning routine, woke up, washed my face and my mouth, drank some water, turned on TV, watched “Early Edition” back-to-back with “The Guardian”, had my breakfast. My mom asked me to be alert if there is someone deliver the food, which means I need to pick it and pay it. I was thinking to go swimming too after finishing my series. I bought 10 swimming vouchers quite while ago and I still have 5 vouchers whereas I will leave to Singapore this Friday. I waited the delivery until my series ended, yet the delivery has not come. Since my mom was on her morning meditation, I can’t just leave like that. I decided to wait until the delivery came. That time was already close to 8.30 in the morning. Then somehow, I just told myself not to force to swim since I would be playing badminton in the afternoon with my ex-colleagues anyway. Otherwise I might be exhausted :p

HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR 2560!!

新年快樂- shin nien kuai le
恭喜發財- gong xi fa chai
萬事如意- wan shi ru e
新春愉快- shin chun yu kuai
年年有魚- nien nien yo yu

Today is new year celebration according to lunar calendar. My friend from China call it Lunar New Year,  but people in my country (Indonesia) call it Chinese New Year. The reason is it’s associated with Chinese people in Indonesia since long time ago, so we’re kind of used to hear it.

Like in many other places, the new year celebration is filled with family gathering, either eats together or just enjoy time together. Children are pay respect to the elders, then they received 红包, or red packet or red envelope. There are many other ways to celebrate it, depends on the country and the ethnic (More Info)

However, celebration is big cities is somewhat different compared to smaller cities. Or, at least, it has changed from time to time. When I was a kid, we used to visit my uncles and aunties house, to pay them a visit to elder generation is a must since both my mom and my dad are almost the youngest child in their big family. Now, my family only celebrates it with our own, my mom and my dad siblings are celebrated with their family as well, since most of them have became grandparents. They celebrated with their children and grandchildren. We just give them a call or text messages. :p

It’s bit unusual for me though. I can understand to avoid the house cleaning fuss but somehow, it’s a bit quiet. 🙂 Anyway, I guess it’s more important to feel the spirit and the atmosphere. I try not to analyze things like I used to, give myself a break in this new year.

It’s a tradition in m family to eat misua in the morning, its soup contains mushrooms, kincam (kinds of vegetable, I tried to find the English word for it but I haven’t found it 🙁 ) with some oyster sauce. Usually it contains chicken as in the stock too, but my mom is vegetarian so, we only used mushroom stock and vegetarian oyster sauce.

So, once again I wish everyone happy lunar new year!! Happy moo moo as my friend said, since this year is an ox year.

[J-Drama] Bloody Monday

I just finished watching this drama. For me, it’s very tense drama. It’s been a while since I watched such a serious drama especially about hacking, terrorist and virus attack. Moreover, the casts are teenagers and there aren’t many senior actors/actresses (as my knowledge). You can find more about the cast from D-Addicts here.

This story is taken from a same title manga, or you may say it’s live action of the manga.

The main character of this story name Takagi Fujimaru, or so called “Falcon” in the network. He lives with his sister, Takagi Haruka who needs to go for dialysis due to her kidney problem, and her father, Takagi Ryonosuke who seldom at home because of his work as THIRD-i agent or special unit agent. Fujimaru was arrested once by his father’s office since he was red-handed caught hacking. He was scolded and forced to make a promise to his dad not to hack anymore.

I found that this drama build the story arc very well. It made me curious episodes after episodes, who’s the bad guys, what they are planning next, the twist and the conflicts around Fujimaru. The more Fujimaru tries to protect people he loves, the more he discovers secrets related to the hacking activities in the past.

It also took me to guess which side of who and whom 🙂

I really hope to see the continuation of this drama as there are some spaces left to elaborate the arc. Somehow, I feel that this drama describes how people live their life nowadays, some are full of anger, disappointment towards the society while others feel that humanity still have hope to be better.

Me and myself

A glimpse of time in the morning with myself.

Why are you keep pushing me to somewhere else?

  • No, I don’t

Then, why you don’t want to be there anymore – where you have friends and family?

  • I just don’t want to be troublesome for them, just it

FYI, you’re not troublesome to your family and friends. Well, maybe sometimes, but it’s not bothering them.

  • Yeah rite

No no no, it’s true.
Don’t you think you shut them down from your life too soon?

  • No I don’t! .. Do I?

Spill the bean..

There is TV series titled “Early Edition” played few years ago. The main character’s name is Gary Hobson. In short, Gary received morning tomorrow newspaper everyday. It brought into Gary’s door by a cat. Gary’s life was upside down when he got that paper. Somehow, he felt that he should do something, for instance trying to fix wrong things or prevent some bad things happened so that it won’t appear in tomorrow’s newspaper.

In this morning Early Edition episode that I watched, Gary’s parents are visiting him. He lives in Chicago whereas his parents lives in quite a distance. His parents shock him by saying that they want to stay with Gary in Chicago. Gary, like other “kid”, feels that that idea was quite surprising. He can’t say no to his parents but he can’t say his thoughts too about it. He lies, makes up reasons, and acts like a teenager until he and his parents were involved in some bank robbery situation, which is quite funny. The bank robber, who hold them as hostages, forces them to have some conversations. And after that, they become more understanding each other.
Gary loves his parents but he doesn’t enjoy spending times with them because he felt he became teenager again. Meanwhile, his parents love Gary so much and think about him every time bad things happened, hope that Gary is safe and sound. They told Gary near the end of the movie, that they feel as Gary is keeping distance with them after he moved out when he entered college.

The idea of the story is simple, maybe for once or twice or maybe more than that, you maybe experience situation like that – it happens to me as well.
