Awareness (continue)

In my swimming class, my coaches always asked what did I do and how did I do it or how I feel after some drills.

They will still tell me if I couldn’t tell them maybe because I wasn’t aware or preoccupied with other things while doing it.

They always emphasize that we need to be aware about what we do and remember the feel of it. When we remember it, we are conscious and as we practice more, the muscle has better memory about the activity we do and we will transform from conscious competent to be unconscious competent.

And to form a new habit it will take around 21 days (or so lots of people say, no wonder it’s 21 days challenge). So, when you’re keep practicing it correctly after sometime, you’ll (and your muscle) get the hang of it.

And because of this, I also started to apply it when I run. I asked my running buddy for this and that, and ask myself, did I land my foot correctly, did I hunch, did I dehydrated and so on. As a result, I notice more things which I didn’t before. I used to think that I just run, to the finish line.

Also when I do my brush lettering drills.

Sometimes the basic is the same and when you apply it across other area, you’ll be able to make it better.

So, lesson of this week is still about awareness.
