My life, my way

Last weekend I flew back to my hometown to attend one of my best friend’s wedding. And nothing is more exciting than meeting your old pals. It’s been more than 5 years since our graduation. There are a lot of things happened within those 5 years.

I used to watch my buddies left my hometown one by one to different cities. And later I did that too; for 1.5 years studying in Melbourne.

Some of the common questions that often asked by friends whom you seldom met are:

  1. Are you attached yet?
  2. What is your plan? When is your big day?
  3. Planning for kids?

and it will go on and on, depends on which stage you are 😉

Funny but true, we tend to assume that our friend should be this or that. Or doing this instead of that. Although we said it jokingly, sometimes they mean what they say. I feel that suddenly I’m that old when I was in my hometown :p

Here are some points that we can learn from this situation:

1. Take it as gentle nudge for us, about..

There are other things that we forgot or neglected because we are too excited to pursue what we want. Looks like we are wearing eye cap that limit our view. So, our friends, as third party, help us to see it.

2. I changed, you changed, we all changed, so..

That’s what make life is more interesting, livelier, more colorful, isn’t it. We can’t have all the time to experience different things, so we learn from each other because we experience different things in different environment.

3. And when we feel that what they say may sound good and we tempted to try it, then..

If you feel you want to try something new, why don’t consider their advice. Take it as free consultation from a friend who know you best.

4. (lastly) To test our confidence, whether

We are confident enough to stick to our plan, or you can consider it as a wall to challenge you. It’s our life. Not theirs. The decision is still your. (this is the time when you should listen to Bon Jovi’s song, It’s my life)

To close this, there is a quote from Paulo Coelho

“When you want something, the universe will conspire to help you”

Let’s live our life to the fullest!
